Job Experience

Mar-2022 to Present

Software Developer, Vancouver, CA

Nasdaq, Verafin

  • Improved query performance by visualizing execution plans, analyzing execution plans and optimizing queries.
  • Conducted log analysis through Splunk to solve the agent's problem on customer side.
  • Built new features on agents using different design patterns to monitor different types of anti-money laundering and human trafficking and conducted unit and qa testing (salesforce).
  • Built an ad scrapper using selenium and 2captcha to bypass captchas and scrap needed information on some largest escort sites to fight human trafficking.
  • Configured AWS Elastic MapReduce (EMR) jobs through Terraform and orchestrate them on a step function.

Oct-2021 to Feb-2022

Data Scientist, St.John's, CA

Nasdaq, Verafin

  • Built the whole data analysis pipeline (e.g., exploratory data analysis -> optimized deep convolutional generative adversarial networks -> local interpretable model-agnostic explanations) and database through SQLite for the classification problem.
  • Augmented image dataset from 150 images to 2500 images by optimized deep convolutional generative adversarial networks (DCGANs) utilizing spectral normalization, label smoothing regularization, instant noise, and relativistic loss functions.

Jun-2020 to Feb-2021

Research Associate, St.John's, CA

Northern Region Persistent Organic Pollution Control Lab (NRPOP)

  • Conducted exploratory data analysis (EDA) after cleaning datasets and Implemented principal component analysis (PCA) for dimensionality reduction and feature extraction (from more than 800 features to less than 12 features).
  • Applied 6 different machine learning methods (KNN, SVC, RFC, DTC, EVC, LRC) to build models and reached the highest f score of 0.9.
  • Built the whole data analysis pipeline for the classification problem and database through SQLite for increasing dataset size in the future.
  • Created the website by Flask to deploy machine learning models for the end users.

Jun-2019 to Sep-2019

Student Data Integrity Research Assistant, St. Johns, CA

Alumni House, Memorial University

  • Analyzed data and verification within the alumni SQL database.
  • Sourced, cross-referenced, and updated biographical information from internal/external sources for alumni and friends of Memorial University using SQL query.
  • Maintained the relationship with alumni and donors.

Feb-2019 to Nov-2019

Research Assistant, St.John's, CA

Memorial University

  • Extracted carbohydrate, protein, and fat from substrates.
  • Conducted hypothesis test on the theoretical yield and the experimental yield.
  • Interpreted correlation and regression analysis with the theoretical yield and the experimental yield.
